Sound Insulation Testing

Building Regulations require that new dwellings not registered under the Robust Details Scheme and any converted dwellings are tested for sound insulation. Tests should be undertaken by suitably qualified testers who hold approved third-party accreditation in a form approved by DLUHC (Department for Levelling Up, Housing, & Communities) previously MHCLG.

We are members of the Association of Noise Consultants Registration Scheme and we are suitably qualified to carry out pre-completion tests in accordance with Approved Document E ‘Resistance to the Passage of Sound’ of the Building Regulations and its equivalent in Scotland.

Each test comes with a unique task number and password. This, with an ANC sound insulation test report, allows the Building Control Officer to verify the test has been undertaken by a qualified tester, with results viewed on the web-based ANC ADvANCE portal.

We operate a prompt and efficient service, tailored to suit the working hours on a site. We are usually able to indicate whether a wall or floor has passed or failed whilst on site. We also take note of any sound transmission paths so we can advise on remedial measures should they be required.
